The common misconception with introverts is that they can be anti-social and would prefer to be left alone. This couldn’t be further from the truth. While introverted people can often seem that way, in reality, they mostly just prefer to choose their conversations wisely.

Unlike their extroverted counterpart that has a natural-born talent for seemingly sparking up conversations with just about anyone—introverts are more likely to wait for the right opportunity to engage.

While icebreaker questions can be surely effective in these scenarios, most introverts would prefer to be carefully cautious about what they choose to reveal and dig deeper into. It helps to start with questions that won’t leave someone feeling vulnerable, but rather stimulated intellectually by evoking creativity and self-reflection.

You might find that someone will have something very interesting to share, perhaps it could even be a learning opportunity or insight into a new idea. There are so many ways to engage introverts when using these icebreaker questions.
